On 28 April 2022 life AIRFRESH inaugurated a ‘Urban Forest’ specially created as part of the project for the improvement of air quality in the city area of Florence (Italy). Gianni Della Rocca of IPSP-CNR opened the event and spoke with Dr Elena Paoletti (coordinator of LIFE AIRFRESH) about the possible interactions between the two LIFE projects.
Both projects work with trees: LIFE MycoRestore with forest trees and LIFE AIRFESH with city trees. Views on the importance of tree health for human and environmental well-being were exchanged and the possibility of using local mycological resource selection protocols developed in LIFE MycoRestore to prevent diseases in the planting of LIFE AIRFRESH “urban forests” was discussed.
Dr. Cecilia Del Re, Councillor for Urban Planning, Environment, Urban Agriculture, Tourism, Fairs and Congresses, Technological Innovation, Information Systems, Project Coordination Recovery Plan, Smart City and Unesco Management Plan was present at the event.
