On November 7 and 12, in line with the “Mapping Forest Health” action (A.1) of the LIFE MycoRestore project, participants visited La Honfria to measure the forest’s health. A team composed by Oscar González, Virginia Gascón, Zuleica García (CSIC-IRNASA), Tamara Sánchez, and Mariano Rodriguez (UVA) carried out forest health assessments during fieldwork. Chestnut trees located in the selected plots were marked, indicating the healthy areas and the sick areas. Afterwards, the team measured the photosynthesis of leaves on the previously marked trees. Branch leaves and soil samples from each plot were also collected to carry out further forest health assessments.
