Field visit to Vallombrosa forest
Today, CNR and Volterra visited the trials areas in the famous Vallombrosa forest in Tuscany.
This forest hosts the oldest (and highest) Douglas fir trees in Europe. The team was accompanied by prof. Paolo Capretti, a renowned expert in forest pathologies of the University of Florence.
Together we witnessed the damage that certain fungi can do to Douglas fir and Silver fir and what natural “myco” remedies can be developed in LIFE MycoRestore to counter their devastating effect.
In the afternoon we visited the chestnut trial areas with has its own particular problems, all of which are explained in further detail in several videos on our youtube channel.
