After the signing of the replication agreement between IPSP-CNR and the Carabinieri Forestali of Vallombrosa, concerning the extension of local Trichoderma soil inoculations to a further 60 ha of silver fir stand as part of the biocontrol of telluric pathogens for the protection of Mediterranean forests in the framework of LIFE MycoRestore, staff of IPSP-CNR went to the forest nursery of Pieve Santo Stefano (AR) where 700 seedlings of Abies alba are being prepared for planting in the Vallombrosa “sylvo-museum”. The seedlings were treated with a mix of 4 species of Trichoderma selected in Vallombrosa for their preventive protection from future infections of Heterobasidion annosum and Armillaria mellea (both dangerous agents of root rot, very common in Vallombrosa). The handobook of LIFE MycoRestore has been presented and donated to Lieutenant Colonel Alberto Veracini, commander of the biodiversity Carabinieri department of Pieve Santo Stefano
