Cerdeira observes its first fructifications on inoculated logs

Volterra News MycoRestore

This September, our portuguese partner, Cerdeira – Home for Creativity, got its first fructifications on logs that were inoculated at the end of 2021.

Even though Portugal experienced a very hot and exceptionally dry summer, the experience was successful since the logs were kept in a dark and humid space in the village.

The inoculation was tested on logs from several species of trees, such as pine, eucalyptus and two varieties of acacia trees. The fructifications that occurred were from two types of mushrooms: Shitake and Pleurotus (oyster-mushrooms). These mushrooms have since been prepared in their kitchen and served to some lucky guests during their stay at Cerdeira’s rural tourism accommodation.
